2017 Student Poster Contest Winners
Posted October 12, 2017
In addition to Chapter awards for plans, projects, and individuals in the state of Iowa, APA-IA also recognizes the research and work of students at the planning programs at Iowa State University and the University of Iowa. Each year students are invited to submit posters showcasing a planning initiative, project, or research topic to be displayed at the conference. All students submitting a poster receive free registration to the conference. The top three posters determined by a jury of professional planners in Iowa also receive cash prizes!
The top three student poster winners at this year’s Upper Midwest APA Conference were:
Sadya Islam and Trang Mai, University of Iowa – “Mitigating Flood Risk by Improving Permeability in Downtown Wellman, IA”
Zoey Mauck, Iowa State University – “Shifting Gears: Encouraging Growth in the Female Cycling Community”
Hongyi-Yang, University of Iowa – “Greater Boston Area Rapid Transit and Commuter Rail Study”
The student poster contest is one of several ways APA-IA connects with students. Students at Iowa State University and University of Iowa continue to do exceptional work. We encourage students to submit their posters for display at the National APA conference in the spring and look forward to seeing ISU and the U of Iowa represented at the national conference!
