The Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Council (SIMPCO) is looking for a Regional Planner II to develop and manage projects with cities and counties within the tri-state area of Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. Under direction of the Regional Planning Director, the Regional Planner II will develop and implement goals, objectives and priorities of the Community and Economic Development Division and Transportation Division of SIMPCO. In addition, the position will assist with community development planning, transportation planning and grant applications including Community Development Block Grants (CDBG).
The Regional Planner II will be required to maintain positive working relationships with officials at all government levels. Identify potential funding opportunities available from private, State and Federal funding sources; research grant opportunities for counties and communities within the service area. Monitor legislative bills for future funding opportunities.
Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Adobe, and ArcGIS is recommended. Applicant must possess strong writing, research, and computer skills. Good written and oral communication skills highly recommended. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other persons inside and outside the organization.
Candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) from an accredited college or university in city/regional/urban planning with two to four years’ experience required. Salary range $45,000 to $57,000 DOQ plus benefit package.
