The City of Burlington is accepting online applications and resumes for the position of City Planner to coordinate, administer, oversee, and participate in projects and activities of the Community Development Department. The City Planner performs a variety of complex and technical duties in the design, development and administration of individual projects, including zoning code enforcement, subdivisions, rezoning, variances, special use applications, development review; draft ordinance revisions as requested. Investigate, apply for, and administer grants related to community development, parks & recreation, and other related city functions. Answer questions and provide information to citizens and the general public; respond to and resolve routine inquiries, complaints and Code violations; provide advice for zoning, land use planning, flood plain management, site planning, subdividing and historic preservation. Seeking entry to mid-level applicants for this position.  One year of increasingly responsible experience in city and regional planning, public administration and/or closely related field preferred.  Bachelor’s degree in City / Regional Planning or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required, Master’s degree preferred.
