The City of La Vista, NE is seeking candidates for the position of Community Development Director. The new Director will be an energetic, positive, forward-thinking and customer-focused leader. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills and a proven track record of directing a team to complete work in a timely and successful manner.
An experience base that includes extensive and proactive community interaction combined with a strong foundation of economic, financial and political acumen is essential in this role.
Collaboration, communication and organizational skills will be key attributes for the new Director, who must be comfortable working in a team environment. The new Director must be a practitioner and well-versed in planning and land use practices. The need is to provide pragmatic and positive solutions to an active constituency and a business-friendly City Council.
Education, Training and Experience
Candidates for this position must have obtained a degree from an accredited 4-year college or university in planning, public administration, business administration, civil engineering or a closely related field. An advanced degree is preferred. Candidates must have seven years of increasingly responsible analytical, administrative and/or management experience, with at least four years in a county or municipal government. In addition, the candidate must have four years of supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
